Naval Supply Center, Oakland, Ca.

Dec 71 - May 72

Physical Exams Section (for Merchant Marines & Navy Personnel), Duty Stander. Ambulance Driver. Dr. Charon from the USS Dixie (AD-14) was the Medical Officer. All the guys used to gather in the tv room during lunch and watch "Big Valley". You had better NOT come in during that hour either! We were all pretty bummed out when they replaced 'Big Valley' with "The Saint" until we really got into watching that.

Duty was from knockoff one day until knock off the next day. Usually not very much happened. Sometimes my brand new wife would come down and spend the night (I could tell you stories! but she'd kill me!).

Did get up too fast one night and fall over (syncope) and put my arm through a window. Had to drive my own ambulance up to the Naval Hospital to get sewed up. Bummer.

Was still working for ACME Western Ambulance Company also.

My oldest daughter, Mariah Dana, was born at the Naval Hospital, Oakland. She was SO cute! She lost weight and cried all the time though 'cause she wasn't getting enough to eat.
